Unreal Tournament 2k7

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the inspiration for fir3b4ll's mod, but it definitely takes some steady hands to make it. The case started off with an incredibly detailed render job - I'd have to say it's one of the most impressive plans I've seen yet.

In homage to the upcoming game, fir3b4ll has designed a case that shows off his favourite weapon - the shock rifle. On the other side is the Unreal Tournament 2k7 logo. But rather than just settle for engraving, airbrushing or other techniques, fir3b4ll went 3d.

This detailed rendering illustrates the shock rifle that fir3b4ll started modelling. Using scraps of wood, spackle and polyurethane foam, the rifle started to take shape...

The model starts to look more and more like its subject with the very detailed carving work. A coat of paint and a glowing cold cathode help bring the final creation to life.

The front door of the mod is also carefully sculpted. It initially starts from some spackle, sponges, and clay, but more keeps being added (including drinking straws). The technique is similar to Wolverine's Biomech 550 and is no less striking here.

Here you can see the logo that will go onto the motherboard side of the case, as well as a final picture of the shock rifle in all its glory. Fir3b4ll's mod is definitely coming together well and we'll be looking forward to it's completion. You can keep an eye on how things progress in his worklog.
